Kargil War15

July 26th is memorable day for Indians. Yes, it is the day commemorated as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, As Indian Armed Forces emerged victorious on this day over infiltrated Pakistani troops in Kashmir Valley.

We at Sapthagiri College of Engineering, celebrated the occasion meaningfully through an inspirational talk by Prof. Mahadeva Prasad, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. Prof. Prasad eloquently narrated the Kargil war and the roles of various martyrs of this fight. The narration was on par with a live commentary from a battle field.

It was followed by a pep talk and presentation by Prof. Satish Murthy, Associate Professor Dept. of ECE and interestingly he has served in Indian Air Force. Group Captain Satish Murthy was part of Indian contingent in Kargil War as Communication Engineer. Prof. Satish Murthy also emphasized the need for youngsters to take up responsibilities in Indian Armed Forces primarily for PRIDE and also the monetary benefits individuals can get by serving in Defense forces.

It was followed by a small but effective talk by our Principal, Dr. Aswatha Kumar, who urged the faculty members to organize such events of National Importance. The gathering observed silence for a minute to pay homage to martyrs of Kargil war.
