Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CS&E)
The department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in the year 2001. The primary focus of the department is to produce highly competent IT professionals, who can be readily acceptable by the industry. Department of CS&E offers under graduate program leading to Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science & Engineering (annual intake of 120 students), post graduate Program leading to Master of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering (annual intake of 24 students) and research program leading to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree.
To motivate and orient the students to achieve academic excellence, the technical workshops, expert lectures from eminent speakers, conferences and competitions are organized on a regular basis in addition to the regular class room teaching from highly dedicated team of faculty. Department is equipped with state-of-the art laboratories to cater to teaching and research needs. There are seven computer laboratories having close to 250 high-end computers all connected in a single LAN and to 50Mbps speed internet. Department draws bright students from Karnataka and also other states of the country, currently about 600 students are studying in the department at UG/PG and Ph.D level.The department has strong tie-ups with industry and government agencies such as: INFOSYS, EMC2, Computer Society of India (CSI), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), KUMBHAT Systems, Bengaluru

The department is headed by Dr. YOGISH H K, Completed B.E from PESCE, Mandya, Mysore University and M.Tech., from SJCE Mysore, VTU Belgaum and Completed Ph.D.,in Computer Science at Bharathiar University Coimbatore. He published and presented more than 50 papers at National/International Conferences/Journals among EIGHT papers were Indexed by SCOPUS, FIVE IEEE and FOURTEEN Indexed by Google Scholar and Thomson Reuters, TWO papers in DBLP. Authored TWO Text Books (UNIX Shell Programming and UNIX System Programming Using C/C++), reviewer of FIVE International Journals and International Conferences. Chaired Various National/International Conferences. BOE member VTU Belagavi (2016-17) and Dr.AIT (2011-2013, 2016-2017) Bengaluru. He is a member of TWO Professional bodies (LMISTE, LMCSI). He has experience in both Academics and Software Industry. Worked as Corporate Trainer for TWO years, trained almost 800 Tech-Mahindra employees at CMC Ltd and at Uttara Info-Solutions and carried an extensive experience in teaching in Engineering colleges for 19+years and worked in various capacities from Lecturer to Professor. Received Excellent, Best Teacher and Best coordinator awards. Currently SIX Scholars are registered for their Ph.D. in VTU.

Program Outcomes (POs)
PO1.Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics and engineering sciences.
PO3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems – design system components or processes that meet the specified needs of society.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO 1: Graduates will have the expertise in analyzing real time problems and providing
appropriate solutions related to Computer Science & Engineering.
PEO 2: Graduates will have the knowledge of fundamental principles and innovative technologies to succeed in higher studies, and research.
PEO 3: Graduates will continue to learn and to adapt technology developments combined with deep awareness of ethical responsibilities in profession
Programme Specific Outcome (PSOs)
PSOs are statements that describe what the graduates of a specific engineering program should be able to do.
PSO 1: Apply the knowledge gained from Mathematics, Basic Computing, Basic Sciences and Social Sciences in general and all computer science courses in particular to identify, formulate and solve real life engineering problems.
PSO2: Identify the various analysis & design methodologies for facilitating development of high quality system software products with focus on performance optimization.
