Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was established in 2004.

The staff members are very eminent in their field and can impart knowledge in an efficient and effective way. The department has one Professor, Two Associate Professors, Six Assistant Professors, Two Senior Lecturers and Two Lecturers. Most of them are Post graduates and all of them are highly talented. Staff members are allowed to attend the relevant Seminars, Workshops and Conferences to enrich their knowledge.
The department is imparting the knowledge to the students with the able Guidance of our beloved Principal and with proper Directions of our respected Director.

The department has DC Machines and Synchronous Machines Laboratory, Control Systems Laboratory, Circuit Simulation and Measurement Laboratory, Transformer and Induction Machines Laboratory, Relay and High Voltage Laboratory, Power System Simulation Laboratory, Power Electronics Laboratory, Analog Electronics Laboratory, Logic Design Laboratory, Micro Controller Laboratory and Electrical CAD Laboratory which are well equipped as per the requirement of VTU.

The department is headed by Dr. K. N. Ravi

Dr. K. N. Ravi is a Ph. D from the Indian Institute of Science. He brings in a lot of industry knowledge from his 25 years of work experience in CPRI. He is a member of the IEEE. His fields of specialization are –

•    Design of external insulation from point of view of pollution under AC and DC voltages.
•    Pollution ageing of DC insulators.
•    Pollution study on AC and DC insulators and arresters.

There is a heavy demand for electrical engineers…

Electricity is indispensable and we cannot live without it. A country’s growth is assessed by its per capita power consumption.Though, India per capita power consumption has increased from 16.3 kWh during 1947 to 917.2 kWh during 2013.It is much lower than US or China, where it is around 15145 kWh and 2942 kWh respectively. India has planned to increase the capacity by 89GW during the 12th plan. Therefore, lots of power generations and transmissions are planned for near future.  India is planning major power lines of ±800 kV HVDC lines and 1200 kV AC lines to evacuate the bulk power from North East to Central India. A 1200 kV National Test Station of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL) at Bina, M.P. has started functioning from 2012. Almost all the equipments are indigenously manufactured. Apart from this, there is an increasing trend for utilization of Renewable energy. In view of the above, job potential are increasing and there will be a heavy demand for Electrical Engineers in the future.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Sapthagiri College of Engineering will have a say in shaping the future Engineers (Electrical and Electronics) from our college.


To see that EEE engineers from SCE should leave the footprint as the best engineers globally and they should lead in all the leading Electrical and electronics organizations


To impart the knowledge for the students of electrical engineers, so that they become a good electrical engineers and contribute to the growth of the nation


The graduates of Electrical and electronics engineering program of Sapthagiri College of Engineering should be able to attain the following at the time of graduation

PSO1: The application and fundamental knowledge to idenenfity, formulate and investigate various real time problems of electrical machines, power electronics, control systems, high voltage engineering, power systems and microcontroller.

PSO2: The application of recent technique along with modern software tools (like MATLAB, AUTOCAD-ELETRICAL, Mi POWER etc) for designing, simulating and analyzing electrical systems as well as electronics system to engage in life-long learning.

PSO3: The utilization of knowledge regarding project management techniques and sustainable technologies for developing projects in varies applications like renewable energy, power systems, high voltage engineering, industrial drives and microcontroller.


The program educational objectives are the statements that describe the expected achievements of graduates within first few years of their graduation from the program. The program educational objectives of Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Sapthagiri College of Engineering can be broadly defined on four counts:

PEO 01: Employability: An ability to contribute to industrial services and/or government organizations by applying their skills through formal education and co-operative educational experiences.

PEO 02: Core Competence: An ability to apply Scientific, Mathematics and Engineering fundamentals gained to comprehend, analyze, design and create novel products and solutions for real life problems.

PEO 03: Professionalism: An ability to embrace professional and ethical attitude/effective communication skills, team skills, multidisciplinary approach to resolve problems and inform, educate and persuade diversified audiences.

PEO 04: Learning Environment & Socialism: A skill to update knowledge with emerging technologies by professional communities, higher education to nourish ever-developing careers and to strengthen human values and social responsibilities to contribute towards society.
