Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 2001 with an initial intake of 60. The department has been on a progressive growth since its inception with Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (annual intake of 120 students), post graduate Program leading to Master of Technology in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems (annual intake of 24 students) and research program leading to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. The department has well qualified and dedicated team of faculty, who are currently very active in research and are highly experienced. The Department has 23 faculty members, 6 Associate Professors, 16 Assistant Professors and 1 Lecturer of which one faculty has completed Ph.D. and 10 faculties are currently pursuing Doctoral degree. The department actively organizes numerous hands-on Workshops/Training/Guest lectures for students every semester to motivate and train students on recent technologies. The department has well equipped laboratories and library facilities. Three research scholars have successfully completed Ph.D. in the department research Centre.

The department is headed by Prof. Sandhya Rani M.H. She has wide experience of 22 years in teaching at various levels. She has received B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication engineering from the University of Mysore, M.E. in Digital Electronics from Karnataka University and pursuing Ph.D. in Jain University. She has guided several UG projects and PG projects in the field of communication and signal processing. She has published various research papers in international/national journals and conferences. Her research fields of interests are Image processing, video processing and Digital Signal processing.

To prepare graduates in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering for prominent careers by providing a broad based knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering to develop skills that will enable students to contribute effectively in their chosen profession.


The objectives of the Electronics and Communication program are broadly defined under following five counts

PEO1: Preparation: To Prepare students to succeed in industry/technical profession through global and rigorous education.

PEO2: Core Competence: To provide Students with a solid foundation in scientific and engineering fundamentals required to solve engineering problems and also to pursue higher studies.

PEO3: Breadth: To train students with good scientific and engineering breadth as to comprehend, analyse, design, and create novel products and solutions for the real life problems.

PEO4: Professionalism: To inculcate in students Professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills, teamwork skills, multidisciplinary approach, and an ability to relate engineering issue to broader social context

 PEO5: Learning Environment: To provide student with an academic environment aware of excellence, leadership, written ethical codes and guidelines, and the life-long learning needed for a successful professional.


 At the end of the B.E Electronics & Communication Engineering program, students are expected to have developed the following program specific outcomes.

PSO1  Specify, design, build and test analog, digital and embedded systems for signal processing

PSO2 Understand and architect wired and wireless analog and digital communication systems as per specifications, and determine their performance
